Gli studenti consolideranno la conoscenza e la pratica della lingua e svilupperanno le capacità di listening e speaking in particolare, ponendo l'attenzione su aspetti lessicali, sintattici e idiomatici relativi alla lingua inglese.

Il corso mira a rafforzare e consolidare le abilità linguistiche della lingua inglese facente parte del bagaglio di competenze degli studenti. Il livello di partenza è B1 del CEFR, valido per le quattro abilità principali (listening, speaking, reading, writing) con l'obiettivo di raggiungere o consolidare il livello B2, con specifico focus sulla produzione e comprensione orale.

Lo studente dovrà dimostrare di conoscere e comprendere le nozioni studiate.
Conoscenza e capacità di comprensione applicate. Lo studente dovrà dimostrare di saper avvicinarsi alla realtà studiata con spirito critico, così da risolvere eventuali situazioni di crisi tanto nel quotidiano che nel settore lavorativo quanto in ambiti di più ampio respiro relativi al corso di studio intrapreso.

Autonomia di giudizio.
Lo studente dovrà dimostrare un’autonomia di giudizio e una dimestichezza tali da riuscire a gestire una certa varietà di situazioni anche quando le informazioni in suo possesso siano limitate.
Abilità comunicative.
Lo studente dovrà dimostrare di comunicare quanto appreso e le proprie conclusioni sia a un interlocutore specialista sia a uno non specialista.
Capacità di apprendere.
Lo studente dimostrerà di aver acquisito gli strumenti per proseguire autonomamente nello studio degli argomenti proposti e approfondire pertanto la conoscenza.

Livello B1 CEFR

L’insegnamento è sviluppato in maniera laboratoriale con maggiore attenzione alla pratica della lingua inglese attraverso attività di conversation.
Il Consiglio di Corso di Studio adotta una modalità “mista” di erogazione della didattica, in presenza e a distanza. La quota delle attività formative erogata in modalità telematica è stabilita ogni anno dal Consiglio di Corso di studio.

L'esame finale prevede un esame orale. Gli studenti non frequentanti sono invitati a contattare la docente per ulteriori informazioni, iniziative e materiale integrativo.

Il candidato dimostra una conoscenza minima degli argomenti principali dell'insegnamento. • Da 22 a 24: Livello pienamente sufficiente. Il candidato dà prova di avere acquisito una sufficiente capacità di trattazione degli argomenti oggetto d’esame. • Da 25 a 26: Livello buono. Il candidato dimostra una buona conoscenza degli argomenti trattati. • Da 27 a 29: Livello molto buono. Il candidato dimostra di avere acquisito conoscenza molto buona degli argomenti trattati nel corso. • Da 30 a 30 e lode: Livello eccellente. Lo studente di avere acquisito un’ottima conoscenza degli argomenti trattati nel corso, nonché ottime capacitò di ricerca e approfondimento autonomo, come richiesto dal programma. Per l'esame di Ulteriori L'esame è valutato sulla base dell'idoneità/non idoneità.

La frequenza non è obbligatoria ma altamente consigliata. Gli studenti non frequentanti sono invitati a contattare la docente via email per informazioni sul programma.

La partecipazione attiva al corso permette di prendere parte alle attività di gruppo e alle presentations periodiche. Lo studio delle real-life situations, espressioni idiomatiche e della sintassi (su materiale fornito durante il corso e a disposizione dei non frequentanti) corrisponde a 2 CFU; la pratica di conversation per i frequentanti corrispondono a 2 CFU.

The course is aimed at consolidating linguistic abilities of students. The starting level is B1 CEFR, for the four abilities (listening, speaking, reading, writing); finishing level is B2, with specific focus on speaking and listening.

Knowledge and understanding. Students shall demonstrate knowledge and understanding founded on the study of the notions and topics included in the syllabus.
Applied knowledge and understanding. Students shall demonstrate that they can approach the contest studied world, so as to solve possible critical situations both in the daily life and in a job context as well as in broader contexts related to their field of study.

Making judgements. Students shall demonstrate that they can make judgements and have appropriate knowledge so as to handle various situations even with limited or incomplete information.
Communication skills.
Students shall demonstrate that they are able to communicate either the acquired knowledge or conclusions to specialist and non specialist audiences.
Learning skills.
Students shall demonstrate the achievement of adequate learning skills so as to continue to study the topics included in the syllabus in an autonomous manner, and to deepen their knowledge. Moreover, they shall demonstrate the acquisition of critical thinking/skills.

Livello B1 CEFR

Classes will consist in lexical and grammar consolidation, with a strong emphasis on conversation activities. The course adopts a "hybrid" methodology, in person and online. The percentage of online activities is deliberated on a yearly basis by the Course Board.

The exam consists of an oral test. Not attending students are invited to contact the Professor for further information, support or study materials. The exam is graded out of 30, passing is 18 minimum; 30cum laude is the maximum. Grades correspond to the following criteria: - Fail: the student does not show a minimum level of acquired knowledge of the topics studied during the course; 18-21: Sufficient level. The student reaches a sufficient though minimal level of knowledge of the main topics studied during the course; 22-24; Fully Sufficient Level. The student shows she/he has acquired a sufficient knowledge of the topics studied during the course; 25-26: Good level. The student shows she/he has reached a good level of knowledge and comprehension of the topics studied; 27-29: Very good level. The student shows she/he has reached a very good level of a good knowledge and comprehension of the topics studied during the course and has acquired good research skills; 30-30cum laude: Excellent Level. The student has acquired an excellent level of knowledge of the topics studied, the ability to critically discuss such topics, and an excellent ability to produce written essays and to elaborate a personal research project. The exam is evaluated on a pass/fail basis.

Attendance is not mandatory but highly recommended. The students of Political Science who take the English Language Laboratory for 2 CFU must follow the same syllabus and will be tested in the same modality as those of the Tourism Course, with the only difference in the number of CFU (2 CFU) and therefore in the amount of work assigned and/or attendance requirements.

Attendance allows students to access group activities and presentations. Real-life situations, idiomatic expressions and the work material (available to non-attending students) corresponds to 2 CFU; conversation activities for attending students correspond to 2 CFU.
